Marriage & Relationship Counseling

It is more difficult for couples to stay together than at any time in modern history. In order to navigate through the challenges that can arise in relationships, couples counseling can help. Not only can counseling help the couple as a whole, but it can also benefit both parties individually.

Counseling with temperament therapy can help couples who wish to work through the following issues:

Communication Problems
Communication problems begin early, with our family of origin, the way we were respected as children. It’s a matter of learning new skills based on our temperament strengths and weakness.

Financial Issues
Problems with money are one of the top reasons why couples seek counseling. Financial issues are best solved by educating yourself, your spouse, and even your children on that subject. Knowledge of your inborn temperament will also help with money management issues.

Infidelity
By applying temperament therapy, you will learn psychological techniques based on the temperament of the people involved to deal with your significant other when and if infidelity occurs.

Blended Family challenges
Family is the bedrock of society. Thirteen hundred new blended families are formed every day. The majority of families in America fall into this category.

Blended families have a high failure rate because no one understands what each other’s needs are. Temperament therapy reveals everyone’s deepest needs immediately, allowing the families to have a fighting chance at normalcy.
Frequently asked questions for those who are considering marriage and relationship counseling:

Does marriage counseling help?
Studies show that, in the hands of a good counselor, marriage  counseling is successful 70- 80% of the time . In light of this, it would be wise to attend counseling to give your marriage the chance that it deserves.

What if my spouse/partner will not attend?
Change begins with you. All of the important work we do must be on ourselves. If your spouse cannot see the importance in going to counseling, perhaps they are not ready to do the work on your relationship that is necessary to reach a more satisfying level.

Your aim is to be a complete, fulfilled human being; one who learns from their mistakes. If your spouse does not desire to embark on couple's counseling with you, then individual counseling can be beneficial. The fact of the matter is that we cannot change anyone but ourselves.

When should I go for counseling?
It is never too late to enter counseling. The best time to go is when you are planning your engagement. The next best time to go is at the first signs of problems in the marriage. Even if you are years into your marriage and have been experiencing issues for some time, counseling still can help.
